Training Courses for Teachers
Our university offers a range of opportunities for your part-time professional development and further training as a teacher. In addition to these specific professional development and further training programmes, we offer you, as a teacher, numerous opportunities to visit learning venues outside school with your class and to benefit from scientifically proven teaching and learning approaches.

Teacher Training Centre for Chemistry
The GDCh Teacher Training Centre in Karlsruhe, which is affiliated with the Institute of Chemistry, is one of seven such centres across Germany. Its training programme comprises courses in chemistry for all school levels and types, as well as general studies in primary schools. A key feature of the centre is that training courses are offered not only in Karlsruhe, but also in schools and training institutions across the federal states of Baden-Württemberg, Rhineland-Palatinate, Hesse and the Saarland.

German as a second language and as a language of education
As a teacher, you have the opportunity to undertake a part-time certificate course. This will enable you to teach German as a second language and as a language of education in both school and non-school settings. You will then be able to support children and young people in developing their language skills.

Karlsruhe School of Education (KSE)
The KSE is a joint, inter-university research institution run by the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) and the Karlsruhe University of Education (PHKA). It coordinates and develops collaboration in teacher training in the areas of study and teaching, research and the promotion of early-career researchers, as well as the transfer of findings into school practice.
Qualification as a training adviser
The Centre for Practical School Training is our training and networking platform for teachers within the education system. One of its key focuses is on training school-based training advisers to support students during their teaching placements, as well as providing professional development opportunities for school heads. In addition, regular networking meetings facilitate dialogue between teachers in schools and lecturers here at the Karlsruhe University of Education. In its programmes – for example, on inclusion or integration – the Centre for Professional Development works closely with stakeholders from the relevant public administration bodies.
