Teaching Workshop
Since 1984, we have been the first teaching practice centre within a university of education. The Didactic Workshop aims to bring key concepts of contemporary teacher training to life, based on constructivist learning theories. We aim to encourage students and aspiring teachers to engage in active and self-directed learning in schools and at university. In doing so, we provide valuable support with the planning, preparation and delivery of lessons, with taking on the professional role of a teacher, and with the practical application of course content in school lessons. The Didactic Workshop serves as a meeting place for communication and a workspace for students.

What we offer
Lesson plans
Here, you have the opportunity to view a range of lesson plans created by students. These can be used as a source of inspiration for your own lesson plans during your teaching placements.
You are also welcome to send us your completed lesson plans so that we can make them available to other students.

How do I register for a workshop?
Under the Stud.IP event ‘Event Board: Didactic Workshop’, you will find all the relevant details in the ‘Workshops’ tab.
To register, enrol yourself in the event and then, via the ‘Participants’ tab and subsequently the ‘Groups’ tab, select the workshop of your choice and enrol yourself.
If you are not a student at the Karlsruhe University of Education, you are still very welcome and can register for your chosen workshop in person at the Didactic Workshop during our opening hours.
You can create your own worksheets using the ‘Worksheet Crafters’ programme, which is available on several computers in the Teaching Resources Room. You can find more detailed information about the programme here.
Available resources
This link will take you to our catalogue, which contains a list of our resources. Here you can search for items, add them to ‘My List’ and pre-order them from us. You can also log in using your library card number and date of birth to view the items you have on loan and their respective due dates.
More items will be added in the near future. We’ll also be adding images so you can see what the items look like.
Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any further questions.
Who is allowed to borrow media?
Anyone can borrow materials from us. Students at the Karlsruhe University of Education need their student ID card to borrow items; all other members of the public can apply for a library card.
How long can you borrow media for?
Our materials can be borrowed for one week and then renewed for a further week. Renewals can be made in person at the Didaktische Werkstatt, by email or by telephone during opening hours. Materials can only be returned during the Didaktische Werkstatt’s opening hours.
If you have any questions about our product range, we recommend contacting us in advance by email or telephone.
