Qualification

We support our researchers with a wide range of services at every stage of their careers and promote academic staff development. Tailored training programmes are offered by the Research Department and the Graduate Academy of the Baden-Württemberg Universities of Education, which is based here in Karlsruhe.

Current training opportunities

As part of our academic staff development programme, the Research Office and the Graduate Academy offer an ongoing range of training opportunities for researchers. These include, in particular, courses focusing on research and methodological skills.

Mentoring

As a tried-and-tested and effective tool for career development, mentoring – alongside professional development programmes – is a key element of sustainable staff development for researchers during their early career.

m.powerment – the cross-PH mentoring programme

Since July 2022, the universities of teacher education in Baden-Württemberg and the Graduate Academy (graPH) have been offering a joint mentoring programme. This programme is aimed at postdoctoral researchers pursuing an academic career, as well as those holding a junior professorship or a tenure-track professorship at a university of education in Baden-Württemberg. The fifth round of the programme (2026 to 2028) began with a launch event on 17 July 2026 at our university.

The m.powerment programme comprises four components:

  • m.tandems: one-to-one mentoring between mentee and mentor for targeted career planning, networking within the academic community and the further development of personal skills;
  • m.peer: exchange within self-organised peer mentoring teams to deepen understanding and share experiences and challenges;
  • m.point: an annual networking event bringing together all participants from the new, current and concluding programme cycles;
  • m.pulse: a supporting programme featuring workshops to reflect on career-related potential, opportunities and framework conditions.
